Yes, that's right, this is the first of FIVE postcards sent by incredibly helpful Hara from Greece. I am so deeply grateful that she put this much time and energy into sending our kids such detailed information about her home city in one of the MOST beautiful countries in the world. Postcard # 1, featuring the amazing ancient citadel the Acropolis and the Parthenon, built over 2460 years ago! Almost unfathomable that this temple still exists! And the legendary story about the contest between the god of the sea Poseidon and the goddess of wisdom/war Athena? Hara beautifully explains their fight and how Athena was declared the victor! It will light our kids' minds on fire to think that Athena's spear striking the rock next to the small templ on the left caused the first ever olive tree to sprout and grow! The story doesn't end there, so we will be diving into more about this determined-to-live little olive tree!
Thank you, Hara, we are so very lucky to have you supporting our project!
