And another fascinating fact is about the reason behind so many homes being white in Greece - it's not just because white helps with heat deflection. In the 1930s there was a cholera epidemic and the dictator of the country ordered all structures to be whitewashed in LIME, which fights off bacteria! White homes saved lives!
