Hello There, World!

Our kids might be on summer break right now but soon enough they'll be jumping into a class named "Exploring the World Through Postcrossing". Every week they'll be given a beautiful, thoughtful postcard from a far-away sender who might share something interesting about their corner of the world - or maybe even what children their age might experience differently there. I've been scouring the internet and my friends lists for people who might want to exchange cards with these eager, creative kids. I want the children to see how special postcards and handwritten words can be, and hopefully they'll want to dive in an explore more about the places and people their cards were mailed from.
The response has been so heartwarming! Cards have been arriving and all I can say is that each is absolutely precious, I am so excited to share these with the kids in August when classes resume. My plan is that we will work in small groups each week to find out more about the origins of a postcard, find it on our map and maybe share a mini presentation together the following week on what other fun facts were found independently. I'll be making a large wall map that the kids can attach their postcards to that families can check out at the end of the semester. So much FUN! And we will be making our own postcards to finish the exchange and send back to these wonderful contributors, so get ready to see some masterpieces posted here before they start their journeys around the world! If you're just finding out about this project here and want to contribute a postcard to our class, please email me at jettamum@gmail.com for my address. Your postcard will be cherished!
Here's yesterday's arrivals!
